Another painting from the Iraqi Village series by Al-Jadar, Iraqi Village 3 captures the iconography of the small Iraqi town. The simple and beautiful geometrically based architecture, the palm trees, and market stalls. The villagers are shown dressed in typical garb of Iraqi's, but are not fully articulated in their anatomy. They are instead broad, gestural vertical lines that mark the lower portion of the canvas. Again, this painting serves as a vehicle of insight onto the simple pastoral life of Iraq.

The scene depicted by Al Jadar captures the pastoral aesthetic of an Iraqi Village. The painterly approach Al Jadar uses in forming the silhouettes of the landscape creates a sense of movement to an otherwise static scene of architectural elements. The color palette utilized ranges from the expected tones one would find in a landscape, that of beige, greys and dark blue yet are punctuated with jolts of crimson, ochre and teal. The overall effect is that of a dynamic and evocative scene of the Iraqi homeland.

An account of the resource
In this oil on canvas created by Khalid Al-Rahal, the sense of the natural world is abstracted and turned upside down. The ambiguous setting gives the viewer a sense of uneasiness or lack of place. The human forms seem huddled together in a small mass in the center of the painting, and are represented in a nondescript manner. The color palette reads from very cool around the periphery of the painting, to a rusty glow in the center. The use of dappled brush work creates texture in the work.

In this textured rendition, Kahlid al-Rahal has carved out different humanoid shapes in various positions staged to the left two-thirds of the canvas. These figures are highlighted by a contrasting color scheme of vibrant blues with soft yellow and red tones. This work by Al-Jadar depicts the desolate nature of the desert, with the landscape of sand and rock. The vivid sand is warm beige and white, the sky jolts the viewer with an intensity of dark blue and grey. The brush strokes in this painting are tighter and more defined than other Al-Jadar works. The desert is depicted in all its beauty and all its emptiness in this work.
